Corporates vs Startups

Corporates are about resources, connections and achievements. We have built a system to tap into the organized structure of human co-operation. Being realistic and producing “expected” output is rewarded.

Startups, in contrast, are about dreams and beliefs beyond reality.

The concept of reality changes when we move from corporates to startups. We might not know if you can achieve, but we strongly believe that we have to. Startups kind of tap into the bravado and zeal and zest of that individual discoverer who will go all the way to get that piece of gold.

We cannot lead a billion dollar behemoth and say everyone run with your dreams. That will be a disaster. So why then we keep telling entrepreneurs that what they are doing is not very realistic, it is not possible, it is not realistic? Why put the constraint of reality on startups?

Yes, ultimately the product has to work in the real world, it has to provide value, it has to compete with the corporates. No doubt. But the values with which we compete need not be the same. We don’t have to be so deterministic to create value.

Startups are about exploring the possibility of pushing something beyond what is reality today, beyond what is possible today. The moment we lose that, we lose the advantage of a startup.

If you can relate to this story do comment. Together we can make the world a better place.
